The buzz: In a bid to increase traffic on its third floor, Siam Paragon has introduced the Cocoon zone. The former exhibition space has now been converted into a gourmet section, containing a handful of restaurants and dessert cafes. As well as the usual suspects, like Starbucks and Buddhi Belly, you’ll also find B Naturale, the first Bangkok branch of the Tokyo-based soft ice-cream bar.
The decor: Clean and simple with lots of natural light. Low rise tables and white circular stools are spread out along the aisle. It’s hard to miss thanks to its convenient location right by the glass elevator and the oversized ice cream cone sitting on the bar.
The cuisine: Here, it’s all about ice cream served in freshly-made waffle cones. Prices are steep but B Naturale’s milky treats are made from imported Hokkaido milk. Keep it simple and go for the rich and velvety B Naturale Premium Milk. Or be adventurous and choose from five other flavors available: Organic Maple Banana, Strawberry Millefeuille, Matcha Millefeuille, Belgium Chocolate and our favorite Sea Salt Caramel. Additional toppings are B15 each.
The drinks: There is a short coffee menu from Illy, starting at B65 for an Americano up to B80 for a double espresso.
The crowd: A good mix of university students, young professionals, families and shoppers looking for a place to rest their feet and sample some sweet treats.
