Phra Khanong's W District has welcomed a new tapas joint. Broken Eggs is run by Galician-born chef Jacobo Astray, the guy behind Bangkok-based private fine-dining business Gula who has experience as a chef de partie at Spain's legendary El Bulli, and his partner Teo, a Spanish food supplier.
The menu focuses on traditional Spanish egg-centric tapas, starting with huevos rotos (priced B140-B180), which literally translates to "broken eggs" in Spanish. The dish comprises fresh-cut fries topped with eggs and add-ons like mushrooms, chorizo and jamon iberico.
Appetizers include garlic shrimps (B160) and tortilla with mushroom and chops (B120). Weekly specials like paella (B180/dish) are available on Fridays, which they also do cooked-to-order (starting from B3,500/pan for 20 people).
