Holy Cow! Holy Pizza has expanded by transforming the second floor of the chic warehouse-style Café Bangrak on Soi Sala Daeng into a “pizza bar.” “I haven’t been to Holy Pizza since I left that business to set up Café Bangrak, but a lot of regulars told me that the place isn’t as good as before…maybe because the partners are concentrating on other businesses,” says owner Ubolsiri Pacharawan, one of the four founders of Holy Pizza in Siam Square. “I don’t want to see what I’ve created disappear, so I decided to add Holy Pizza to the menu.”Twenty-two pizzas are on offer with the same crisp cracker crust that made the first Holy Pizza famous. There are Thai-style choices like chicken green curry and larb kai, but our firm favorites are Coppa Woppa (Coppa ham, salami, pepperoni and mozzarella) and Friar Tucker (spinach, mushroom, mozzarella and fried egg). None of these meet the standards of a high-end Italian eatery, but Holy Pizza isn’t pretending to be one. Think of it as a good place to grab a quick lunch or a relaxed post-work dinner. The decor hasn’t changed much—there are the same rustic wooden floors, dark wood tables and white-washed concrete walls. Plans are in the works to add live acoustic music Wednesday and Friday nights.
