Humming Birds’ three Thai chefs have years of experience in French restaurants, and roll out both French and Thai comfort food. The decor: The restaurant is wrapped in floor-to-ceiling windows, giving diners full views of the garden. The interior is warm and inviting with a decor that combines both industrial and rustic elements, like grey walls, bare bricks, an exposed ceiling, naked light bulbs, large wooden tables and dark leather couches.
The food: Chef Chamrat Srikaeoaudomchok says the restaurant uses only organic herbs and vegetables, and makes all their curry pastes fresh from scratch, so don’t miss out on their green chicken curry with roti (B150). Other must-try dishes include shrimp in fish sauce and wasabi (B180), crispy stir-fried rice noodles with basil (B120), and seafood tomyam fried-rice (B180). On the French side, go for macaroni au gratin (B70) or baby clams in garlic butter (B160). Don’t forget their home-made ice creams and sorbets, featuring Thai fruit flavors, from mango to custard apple and lychee (B100).
The drinks: The cocktail list here is compact, but Umeshu soda (B180) is the favorite. For some cooling down sans alcohol, try their honey lime soda (B80), watermelon punch (B90) or pomegranate iced tea (B90).
