One of the delightful things about eating dim sum is the huge amount of variety you can pack into every meal. With the emergence of a multitude of budget dim sum places around town, though, the image of this type of food for some has taken a hit. It only takes a visit to one of the more traditional places in town to remember how delightful dim sum really can be. Lok Wah Hin at the Novotel at Siam Square is one of those places. They just imported a chef from Hong Kong for exactly this purpose. The restaurant has just been revamped according to the hotel’s more contempory look and it goes well with its neighboring international food outlet, The Square. Lok Wah Hin is brighter than it used to be, dressd in comtemporary and stylish design while retaining traditional Chinese accents such as tasteful red lanterns housed in wooden birdcages and teakwood eaves. Their lunch is populated mostly by business folks. It’s all you can eat dim sum, and don’t miss Chef Chan’s delicious sumai, pork ribs in black pepper sauce or minced pork buns. All their dishes are grease free, clean and enjoyable. Their Orange Blossom Souffle is a refreshing dessert—orange ice cream served in a frozen orange with a thin swizzle of chocolate. It’s the perfect thing to top off a meal. Dinner is served here as well, though it’s only an a la carte affair.
