The buzz: The brand new hotel by Zinc, Glow Pratunam, is located on top of Shibuya 19, where it seems they’re aiming to attract shopaholic tourists. But this 3-star hotel also offers a rare new restaurant at which to wine and dine, since there are only really food courts in the area.
The décor: Luna is the only restaurant in the hotel it’s more of an all-day dining venue. While the hotel is vibrantly decked out, the eatery goes for more beige tones. The simple decorations give it more than a passing resemblance to a cafeteria. There’s also a pretty big outdoor space on the 7/F rooftop that’s soon to be converted into a beer garden.
The food: The dishes have been created by a Sukhothai chef who promises to showcase authentic Thai food’s full gamut of flavors while modernizing presentation and utilizing some new ingredients. The results include a Sukhothai-style pad Thai (B160) made with konjac noodles and yardlong beans, rad na (noodles in gravy sauce served with gyoza, B130) and masaman (slow-cooked beef curry served with rice, B180). As you’d expect, fusion and western dishes are also available for tourists: expect everything from udon tom yum (B160) to pizza with pepperoni and salami (B250) and mac and cheese (B160). Drop by this month for their set lunch (B179 for 3-course) from 11:30am-2:30pm daily.
The drinks: The smoothies are the most popular orders for shopped-out guests. Try the Berry Cooler (raspberry, strawberry and passion fruit syrup, B120). Cocktails include the recommended Bangkok Bang Bang iced tea (vodka, gin, rum and Red Bull, B230). Beers are mostly local starting from B130. Their wine lounge will open soon, but in the meantime Luna offers wine by the glass starting from B130.
