The buzz: The owners of this organic grocers and restaurant look to promote the concept of natural, locally grown produce to the wealthy expats of Phrom Phong, with a Japanese twist thrown in for good measure. All of the vegetables used here come from the Harmony Life Organic farm up in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchsima.
The décor: Entry is through the organic shop downstairs and the whole place is reminiscent of a luxury hospital, thanks to the clean white walls and shiny wood floors. Head up the cute curved staircase and you’ll find the small low-ceilinged restaurant on the second floor where the theme continues, just with the addition of simple wood tables and wicker chairs.
The food: Simple, healthy options that feature a mix of Japanese and inter dishes and not a sniff of red meat in sight. There are three different set menus for lunch which include a mix of vegetarian hors d’oeuvres, assorted frittos like sun dried tomato with white fish and seafood gratin with curry sauce. There are also three set options for dinner which include more substantial offerings, like homemade cold spaghetti with squid and dried mullet roe and white fish and sauted tofu with okra butter sauce. The menus are due to change every two weeks and all dishes offer only fresh organic vegetables and naturally caught fish from Rayong.
The drinks: Aside from your usual sodas there are healthy tea options like turmeric and carrot leaf, or try a health restoring organic enzyme drink in a range of flavors. You can also enjoy authentic Johnny Coffee from Kobe.
The crowd: Japanese ladies who lunch and the more health conscious residents of this expat neighborhood.
