The Grill Tokyo is a modern Japanese and fusion cuisine restaurant located on the ground floor of Siam Paragon. It originated as the top-end traditional Japanese restaurant, Nippon-Tei. The decoration is an innovative mix of East and West: It feels like Tokyo but the style of service is Western with a contemporary jazz soundtrack. Chef Mitsuyoshi Mori styled the cuisine after his own tastes, which are modern Japanese with a touch of the exotic. Ninety percent of the ingredients are imported from Japan and the prices (especially the seafood) definitely reflect this. Mori has won raves already from Japanese fans. Sashimi super delux (consisting of two toro, two makakawa kare, two amaebi, two hamachi, two salmon, two akami, two hotate, and one uni) is absolute heaven for Japanese food lovers. A favorite is their kao nar trub han pud wai dang (a bowl of rice topped with sautéed foie gras with red wine and soy sauce). Spaghetti with king crab meat, cabbage and wasabi is another recommended dish. If you are on a budget, their lunch sets (four choices of courses, sets changing every month, 11:30am-2pm) are the best value for money deals. For dessert lovers, macha warabi (bracken jelly with green tea powder, five pieces), is recommended and is rare outside Japan. This restaurant would be suitable for Japanese food aficianados, casual family meals as well as business dinners.
