The Place: Run by the owner of the well-known Kuay Tiew Reua Anusaowaree at Victory monument, you’ll be getting a similar atmosphere here: loads of students and office workers squeezed into a two-story shop house during lunchtime and weekday evenings. As a result, loud shouts and banter make the scene about as peaceful as a battlefield.
The Food: The only real food on offer is a miniature portion of spicy kuay tiew reua moo served in small chaam tra gai (a classic bowl painted with a rooster). A few baht will get you two tablespoons of noodles and a few slices of pork, topped with morning glory and bean sprouts. Obviously, you’ll need to eat several. You will even get one free liter of Coca Cola for every 27 bowls. Hope you’re hungry! End the meal on a sweet note with traditional Thai desserts. You can choose three ingredients (from lord chong, khao tom naam woon, sweet pumpkin, black jelly, coconut jelly and black sticky rice) then match them with your choice of syrup or coconut milk.
Must-Haves: The best is to scoff down three or four bowls of noodles senlek naam–style and finish your meals with a mix of khaotom naam woon, black jelly and coconut jelly in sweet syrup. Don’t forget to order a glass of longan juice to go with your meal.
